All of our grandkids are
fearfully and wonderfully made by our creator.
Each different one is marvelously different. They are like a beautiful flower arrangement
from above.

Joshua Smiles |
A few months ago our daughter
in law told us about a t-shirt design contest for the younger ones. Each of the three that she entered
placed. Joshua our quite and shy one,
won first place. As a prize he and a
parent were to ride the fire truck to lead the parade for their Memorial Day
home town festival.

Joshua and Dad |
Not that we are the least bit
proud grandparents but we drove two days to attend. The judge who selected
Joshua as the winner said, “The t-shirt just made me smile.” For those of us who know Joshua, it indeed
does make you smile. It warms our hearts
as does a smile from Joshua.

Josh and Mom
First Communion |
It was a pleasant surprise
when he got into the event. With the
comfort of Dad close by, our mini parade marshal was as proud and happy as any
grand marshal as he waved, smiled and tossed candy into the crowd like a
pro.

Meg and Connor Rock Climbing Race |
|
Playing basekball with Toben |
It was a wonderful trip. Each of the other grandkids participated in
different ways. Connor rode in a float with his baseball team. He and Megan eagerly looked forward to the
pie eating contest. Petite Megan tried but couldn’t compete with the bigger
stomachs. Connor on the other hand placed
third. And yes, he still LOVES pie!

Lily Exhausted |
There were derby car races,
climbing walls, face painting, food and all sorts of entertainment. We felt we had gone back in time to the
childhood of the fifties. We loved the small
town community. It is all but a thing of
the past.

Megan and Connor Pie Eating Contest |
Connor and Meg, our
adventurist, hosted a back yard camp out. The entire neighborhood kids showed
up full of anticipation. Tents were
pitched, hot dogs and marshmallows roasted over the fire pit. The boys wrestled and the girls nested in
their tents. All was well until around
10:00 p.m. The door bell rang. A host of
campers spooked by shadows piled into the family room, sleeping bags in tow. Except for three brave ones, the camp out had
become a camp in.
