Thank you!

Interview with Lindsey and I
Sanctity of Human Life Sunday January 20
Capitol steps
Little Rock, AR
Words cannot express my appreciation for all of the wonderful expressions of love and encouragement during the recent Sanctity of Human life events. The Lord is indeed opening many doors of opportunities for ministry. Though I am always willing to share my healing story, it never gets any easier. Your words are very comforting.

Some have inquired as to how to help in our journey to the United Nations March event. Praise the Lord for each and every one of you. Our team is made of post abortive ladies like me from different cities throughout Arkansas; one from Miami. We pay all of our own expenses. Travel and lodging, even shared by 5 women, is over $1000.00 for each of us. I will happily accept any sponsorship the Lord directs. Just ten dollars from each of you that love me (twenty from those who do not) would go a long way.

Friday January 18
Press Conference
Capitol Little Rock, AR
While we are excited at the opportunity, we are very much aware of the intense spiritual warfare we will be facing both within the city and the organization. We will sponsor one UN event where we plan to share our stories. The rest of the days will be spent helping others with their events. As is too often the case, we cannot approach anyone directly with the Gospel. We can make friends and answer their inevitable questions of why we are there.

Women that the Holy Spirit draws to us are invited to attend our Bible Study evenings at the hotel. Many have responded in the past. I so look forward to seeing how God draws them this year! Even just one taking the light of Christ back to their country is exciting!

Many women live in countries where abortions are forced upon them. They have no choice but to agree with what their government dictates to them regardless of their personal choice. Our mission is simply to share the hope through Jesus Christ.

Do we want abortion to cease? Yes. We believe that women speaking out, regardless of the circumstances of their abortion, about their pain will have a dramatic effect. Our personal call is to healing. Others are certainly called to legislate.

First and foremost, pray for God’s leading in how to respond and serve. He will only bless a seed planted according to His will and plan. Pray for safety, favor, and wisdom for us. Pray that the Lord will draw those to hear His words of healing.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. Corinthians 1:3-4

GRANDMOTHER'S SPECIAL COMFORT

IT’S SNOWING AGAIN TODAY.  TRUE TO SOUTHERN TRADITION, DAN LEFT EARLY TO PICK UP PRESCRIPTIONS AT THE DRUG STORE. I REMINDED HIM TO PICK UP EXTRA MILK—JUST IN CASE.  HE RETURNED SHORTLY WITH HIS IDEA OF NECESSARY STAPLES FOR AN IMPENDING WINTER STORM—CHIPS, DIP AND CHOCOLATE.  SO, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW.  ICE, HOWEVER, PLEASE STAY AWAY.  PLEASE!

WE SOUTHERNERS READILY ADMIT WE ARE WIMPS WHEN IT COMES TO WINTER.  WE DO NOT LIKE THE COLD! FOR EXTRA WARMTH WE PULLED OUT A COUPLE OF GRANDMOTHER’S QUILTS FROM STORAGE. I FOUND MYSELF RUNNING MY HANDS OVER THE CAREFULLY STITCHED SQUARES AND SMILING.  I REMEMBER THE SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND FRIENDSHIP AROUND THE QUILTING FRAME.

DAN’S GRANDMOTHER HAD HER SPECIAL QUILTING CLUB.   MANY TALL TALES AND FRIENDSHIPS WERE SPUN.  MY MOTHER IN LAW MARY SPOKE OFTEN OF ONE PARTICULARLY SPECIAL QUILT PASSED DOWN TO HER FROM HER MOTHER IN LAW.  IT WAS A SIGNATURE QUILT WITH ALL THE NAMES OF HER QUILTING CIRCLE OF FRIENDS STITCHED ON IT.

THESE QUILTS MAY NOT BE AS EFFICIENT AS A MODERN ELECTRIC BLANKET OR DOWN COMFORTOR.  HOWEVER, NOTHING COMPARES TO THE LOVE

He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge.  His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  Psalm 91:4-5

Goody Box

We continue to enjoy Dan’s retirement and our time together. There have been a few unexpected adjustments. Within a few days, Dan was restless. The weather and sinus infections were making him even antsier. Dan is unlike our friend Jim who embraces his leisure life with gusto. Jim who weather permitting is either on the lake fishing or on the golf course. Bad weather finds him at the local coffee shop swapping tales with buddies. Jim says, “I was born lazy and never got over it.”

Admittedly, I felt a little misplaced when he began taking over the kitchen. Scary is it not? (Remembering the story about replacing a crock pot after he cooked a grilled cheese?) He decided he wanted to make HIS chili. He did allow me to shop for a very specific list of ingredients minus his “secret’ ingredient. The dish turned out really well. It occurs to me that another’s cooking regardless of the similarities really does taste better. That is particularly true when hubby cleans up the kitchen after.

The weather and sinuses were clearing. The kitchen was abandoned for the man cave expansion project. We are still sorting through all of his work stuff. I picked up a cardboard box from the car. “That’s my goody box” he says. There were a lot of goodies in it. Items ranged from hand cream, drink mixes, coffee creamer, sweeteners, an assortment of eye glasses and sunshades and such. As one would expect, many were long lost and forgotten treasures.

Man cave expansion. The man is happy digging in the dirt!  Always!

As we embark upon this new adventure in our lives, regardless of challenges and adjustments, we are reminded daily of the many treasures we share. We look forward to uncovering those perhaps forgotten or overlooked. No doubt there are treasured memories yet to be made. Dan is beginning to adjust and embrace no setting of the alarm clock, napping when he is tired and actually kicking back in his recliner to watch football. In time he may even convert to Jim’s philosophy of life.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Luke 12:34

CHRISTMAS VACATION

Texas family at the Gaylord

Dinosaur racing at the museum

Frog back riding at museum

WITH THE INCLEMENT WEATHER LOOMING OVER US, WE WERE UNSURE WE WOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE OUR CHRISTMAS VACATION AS SCHEDULED.  THE WEATHER COOPERATED LONG ENOUGH TO GET US TO OUR DESTINATION.  AS ALWAYS, IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE WEATHER, JUST WAIT A DAY!
Me and my "Little Boy"

WE ARE GENERALLY ACCUSTOMED TO WARMER CLIMATE IN DALLAS. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE THIS TRIP.  IT WAS MOSTLY COLD AND WET.  WE DID GET ONE WALK IN BUT WERE UNABLE TO TAIKE OUR TRADIOTIONAL BIKE RIDES WITH THE  G’KIDS.  THE BOYS PARTICULARLY LOOK FORWARD TO THIS ACTIVITY.

REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER, WE FOUND MUCH TO DO INDOORS.  AS ONE MIGHT EXPECT IN THE DFW AREA AND AT CHRISTMAS BREAK, EVERYTHING WAS PACKED OUT.   OUR FIRST OUTING WAS TO THE NEW PEROT MUSEUM.  IT WAS WORTH BRAVING THE COLD AND THE CROWDS.  IT IS EXCEPTIONAL.  WE DID PASS ON LUNCHING AT THE ONSITE CAFÉ.  THE WOLF GANG PUCK PIZZAS WAS A HUGE DRAW LEAVING LONG WAITING LINES.

SUNDAY BROUGHT MASS, PIZZA AND PASTA OUT FOR LUNCH, A VIST TO THE TEXAN GAYLORD CHRISTMAS DISPLAY AND FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT AT HOME. WE WERE GRATEFUL TO WAIT BY THE GAYLORD LOBBY FIREPLACES FOR DR. SON TO RETRIEVE THE MOM BUS AND COLLECT US CURBSIDE.  WITH BECKY LOOKING LIKE SHE IS ABOUT TO DELIVER ‘BABY BOY’ ANY SECOND, THE ATTENDANTS RAPIDLY AND PERHAPS A BIT NERVOUSLY, CLEARED THE LANES FOR OUR PICK UP.  SORRY BECKY!

WE ALWAYS TRY TO EVENLY DIVIDE OUR TIME WITH EACH CHILD/YOUNG WOMAN. HOWEVER, LILY THE YOUNGEST DEMANDS AND GENERALLY RECEIVES UNDIVIDED ATTENTION.  SHE GENERALLY PREFERS PAPA DAN BUT ON THIS VISIT, SHE WAS NANA’S CONSTANT SHADOW.  SHE IS QUITE PRECOCIOUS THIS ONE. SHE IS NOT SO DIFFERENT FROM HER SIBLINGS IN THAT RESPECT.  SHE DOESN’T MISS MUCH.   DR. SON POINTED OUT MY CHRISTMAS OVEN BURN WAS LOOKING A BIT INFECTED.  WHEN LILY NOTICED A NEW BANDAGE, SHE ASKED WHY. I TOLD HER WHEN I WASH MY HANDS IT FALLS OFF.  SHE PAUSED FOR A MOMENT AND SAID, “WELL, YOU ALWAYS SHOUJLD WASH YOUR HANDS.”

NEW YEARS EVE HAS BEEN EXTRA SPECIAL SINCE THE BIRTH OF OUR SECOND GRANDCHILD, MEGAN ON THAT DATE.  WE CELEBRATED HER TWELFTH, AS HARD AS IT IS TO IMAGINE, WITH MOM’S HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CAKE, MOVIE OUT AND DINNER AT CHILI’S---HEAVY ON THE QUESO! FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG WHILE, DAD WAS ABLE TO JOIN US!  PEOPLE STILL GET SICK EVEN ON HOLIDAYS.

RUMOR HAS IT THERE WERE FIREWORKS DURING THE RINGING IN OF THE NEW YEAR.   WE WILL HAVE TO TAKE ACCEPT THAT IN FAITH.  EVERYONE WAS HAPPY BUT EXHAUSTED AFTER THE LONG CELEBATORY DAY.  SOME OF US CRASHED ON THE WAY HOME!  WE ALL SLEPT SOUNDLY AND LATE INTO NEW YEARS DAY.

I CAN THINK OF NO BETTER WAY TO END AND BEGIN A YEAR THAN BEING WITH THOSE YOU LOVE.

BECAUSE YOUR LOVE IS BETTER THAN LIFE; MY LIPS WILL GLORIFY YOU!
PSALM 63:3
